A joint security forces check post in Bannu came under a deadly terrorist attack, leaving 12 security personnel martyred and infrastructure severely damaged.
The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) confirmed that militants attempted to storm the check post but faced strong resistance from security forces. In the firefight, six terrorists were neutralized.
The attackers, unable to penetrate the post, resorted to a suicide bombing. A vehicle laden with explosives was detonated against the perimeter wall of the check post, causing significant damage.
Among the martyrs were 10 members of the armed forces and 2 personnel from the Frontier Constabulary. The blast not only claimed lives but also caused part of the wall to collapse, damaging nearby infrastructure.
ISPR lauded the security forces for their valor, stating that their swift action prevented further escalation. The attackers’ attempts to infiltrate were decisively thwarted, showcasing the unwavering commitment of Pakistan’s defenders.
The incident has drawn widespread condemnation, with tributes pouring in for the martyrs. Government officials and citizens alike reaffirmed their solidarity with the armed forces, emphasizing the nation’s determination to eradicate terrorism.
