2026 FIFA World Cup: Four Nations Confirm Qualification
Report By Safarti Tarjuman Sports Desk
Four national teams have officially secured qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, joining the three host nations: Canada, Mexico, and the United States. Japan, Iran, New Zealand, and Argentina are the first countries to advance through regional qualifiers for the expanded 48-team tournament.
Japan became the first non-host nation to qualify for the Asian qualifiers. Iran followed closely by securing their spot through consistent performances in the same confederation.
New Zealand earned qualification from the Oceania region, maintaining dominance in the OFC competition. Argentina, the defending World Cup champions, confirmed qualification from the South American confederation, continuing their pursuit of a record-equaling fourth title.
The 2026 FIFA edition will see 48 teams compete in the World Cup for the first time. Qualification matches continue across all six confederations, with more nations expected to join the confirmed list in the coming months.
