TEL AVIV — Israel’s national carrier El Al Airlines announced on Sunday that it had received approximately 25,000 requests to leave the country within just 24 hours, amid escalating regional instability following US and Israeli strikes on Iran.

According to Reuters, El Al said it will begin servicing eight international destinations starting Monday in response to the surge in demand, although strict passenger limits have been imposed. Each flight will carry a maximum of 50 passengers under new security and logistical protocols.

Israel’s Airports Authority confirmed plans to increase the number of rescue flights to 24 per day from multiple international locations beginning Monday. The move comes as thousands of Israelis and foreign nationals seek to exit the country amid fears of further escalation in the Iran-Israel-US conflict.

Several major international airlines have responded to the volatile situation by suspending or canceling flights to Gulf region destinations:

  • Air France-KLM cancelled flights to and from Dubai and Riyadh for both Sunday and Monday.
  • Singapore Airlines suspended its Singapore–Dubai route after a fresh security assessment, warning that future flights may also be impacted.
  • British Airways cancelled operations between the UK and Dubai and Doha on Sunday.

Singapore Airlines further noted that the “fluid security situation” may continue to impact its flight schedules in the coming days.

The sweeping flight disruptions and surge in exit requests signal the growing unease among travelers and residents in the region. As governments reassess risk levels and airlines implement emergency protocols, travel across the Middle East remains highly unpredictable.

Security experts have advised travelers to monitor updates from their carriers, avoid non-essential travel, and stay informed through embassy alerts.
