Security forces conducted two high-stakes operations in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, neutralizing eight militants and capturing two, the military’s public relations wing (ISPR) confirmed on Sunday. Tragically, the operations also claimed the lives of two military personnel, including a young captain.
The initial intelligence-based operation targeted a militant hideout in Baka Khel, Bannu. Five militants were killed, and nine others were wounded during a fierce gunfight.
Among the casualties was 29-year-old Sepoy Iftikhar Hussain from Jhang, who fought courageously before embracing martyrdom.
In a subsequent operation in Khyber District, three militants were eliminated, and two others were apprehended. During the mission, Captain Muhammad Zohaib Uddin, 25, from Lahore, displayed exceptional leadership before laying down his life.
The militants targeted in these operations were responsible for orchestrating attacks on security forces and civilians, ISPR said.
Ongoing operations aim to eradicate any remaining threats in the region. The military reaffirmed its commitment to ridding Pakistan of terrorism, emphasizing that the sacrifices of its personnel strengthen this resolve.
