The Joint Investigation Team (JIT) report in the 9 May cases has been presented in court, finding the leadership of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and several of its leaders guilty.
In a significant development in the cases related to the 9 May tragedy, the Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) received the completed investigation report from the JIT. The report revealed that PTI’s leadership incited the public on 9 May, contributing to the unrest.
According to the investigation, PTI leaders, including Asad Umar, Azam Swati, and Hafiz Farhat, along with other suspects, are guilty. The JIT also holds PTI’s leadership accountable for their involvement.
During the hearing, ATC Judge Arshad Javed questioned the defense lawyers, asking whether they required more time, as the investigation had been completed. He emphasized that discussions should proceed now.
The court has summoned the defense lawyers for arguments at the next hearing on January 14.
