Quetta’s Railway Station suicide bombing lives of 25, injured more than 50.

Quetta’s provincial capital at Railway Station suicide bombing in has claimed the lives of 25 people and injured more than 50.

According to officials, the explosion occurred this morning at the railway station platform when it was crowded with passengers.

Rescue sources reported that women and children were among the dead and injured. Police Surgeon Dr. Ayesha stated that 56 injured individuals are receiving treatment in various hospitals. The deceased include a woman, five railway employees, and four passengers.

In response to the explosion, an emergency has been declared at Quetta Civil Hospital, and additional doctors and staff have been called in for medical aid.

Commissioner Quetta, Hamza Shafqaat, said that the explosion at the railway station was a suicide attack targeting security forces. A banned organization has claimed responsibility for the suicide bombing.

The Commissioner further advised citizens to avoid bus terminals, stations, and crowded areas, emphasizing that preventing a suicide bomber is extremely difficult as they tend to target soft areas. The attacker reportedly entered through an open entry point at the station.

SSP Operations Muhammad Baloch noted that the explosion appeared to be a suicide attack and occurred when a large number of passengers were present on the platform to board the Jaffer Express.

According to railway officials, two trains were scheduled to depart from Quetta today: the Chaman Passenger train heading to Chaman and the Jaffer Express bound for Peshawar. Both trains’ passengers were on the platform at the time.

Chief Minister of Baluchistan Orders Investigation

Meanwhile, Chief Minister of Baluchistan, Mir Sarfaraz Bugti, condemned the attack at the Quetta railway station and ordered an investigation.

He described the incident as reprehensible and highlighted that targeting innocent people is part of a continued pattern. He added that the terrorists are now targeting civilians, laborers, children, and women. He stated that those who attack innocent people deserve no sympathy and are not worthy of being called human; they have fallen below humanity and are worse than animals.

The Chief Minister noted that authorities have reached individuals involved in several terrorism incidents and vowed that they will continue to pursue terrorists until they are brought to justice and terrorism is eradicated from Baluchistan.

Acting President Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani’s Condemnation

Acting President Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani expressed strong condemnation of the bombing at the Quetta railway station. He extended heartfelt condolences over the loss of precious lives in the incident.

The Acting President instructed the provision of immediate medical assistance to the injured, stating that terrorists are enemies of humanity who target unarmed civilians. He reiterated his commitment to taking all possible measures to eradicate terrorism, prayed for the souls of the deceased, patience for their families, and a swift recovery for the injured.
