U.S. President-elect Donald Trump has unveiled key appointments aimed at reinforcing his administration’s approach to domestic and international policies. Among the most prominent picks, Trump selected Pete Hegseth, a former military officer and current Fox News host, as Secretary of Defense. Hegseth, known for his service in Iraq and Afghanistan and a brief stint as a Minnesota congressman, was described by Trump as a “fearless and patriotic champion” who embodies the administration’s commitment to “peace through strength.”
Trump also appointed former Director of National Intelligence John Ratcliffe to lead the CIA, signaling a shift towards a more assertive intelligence strategy. Steven Witkoff, a long-time associate of Trump, will serve as Special Envoy for the Middle East, while Mike Huckabee, ex-governor of Arkansas, has been named Ambassador to Israel, reflecting a bolstered focus on U.S.-Israel relations.
Bill McGinley, a former cabinet secretary, is slated to return as White House Counsel. Meanwhile, tech entrepreneur and former presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy will head an innovative “Department of Government Performance,” designed to implement structural reforms and enhance efficiency across federal agencies.
According to Trump, Ramaswamy’s role will involve collaborating with the Office of Management and Budget to introduce unprecedented strategies aimed at government modernization. “This department will be a game-changer, ensuring that government operates with a level of effectiveness never seen before,” Trump remarked, underscoring his intent to streamline operations and challenge the status quo.
