Chinese Envoy Holds High-Level Talks with Afghan Interim Government

Yue Xiaoyong, China’s Special Envoy on Afghan Affairs, recently visited Afghanistan and met with key officials of the Afghan interim government. The visit, which included discussions with Acting Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi, focused on enhancing bilateral relations and exploring avenues for practical cooperation.

The Chinese Foreign Ministry’s spokesperson, Mao Ning, confirmed the meetings during a press briefing on Monday. She stated that the dialogue underscored China’s commitment to fostering stable and productive ties with Afghanistan.

Afghanistan’s Foreign Ministry also acknowledged the meeting through a post on X (formerly Twitter), describing it as a constructive exchange aimed at deepening collaboration between the two neighbors.

The visit highlights China’s active diplomatic engagement in the region and its interest in supporting Afghanistan’s development and integration into broader regional frameworks.
