Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi announced that no Afghan citizen will be allowed to stay in Islamabad without a No Objection Certificate (NOC) after December 31, 2024.
During a visit to the under-construction F-8 underpass site, Naqvi addressed the media and confirmed that life in Islamabad had returned to normal. He mentioned that the targeted completion date for the flyover and underpass was within 60 days, and work on the F-9 Road is progressing rapidly with plans to open it sooner.
Referring to recent protests, Naqvi criticized the claim that numerous bodies were being taken to hospitals. “Since the protesters fled, there’s been talk of so many bodies being in different hospitals, but I have asked them to name even one of their own who has died. It seems the protesters are now trying to hide their embarrassment,” he remarked. The Interior Minister further stated that the government will submit a comprehensive report to the High Court regarding the protests.
Later, the Interior Minister and Director-General of Punjab Rangers, Major General Mohammad Atif bin Akram, visited PIMS hospital, where they met with Rangers, FC, and police officers injured during attacks by miscreants.
Naqvi praised the bravery of the injured officers and conveyed that they were the nation’s heroes. “You thwarted the miscreants’ plans, and we take great pride in your courage. Despite the chaos, you showed resilience,” he stated. He also assured that the injured personnel would receive the best medical treatment, instructing the doctors to provide top care.
