Secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), Jay Shah, has officially assumed the role of Chairman of the International Cricket Council (ICC).
With the term of outgoing Chairman Greg Barclay ending on November 30, Jay Shah begins his three-year tenure. The ICC confirmed Shah’s appointment and noted that he could be re-elected for a consecutive term.
Greg Barclay, who announced his decision to step down in August, completed his term without seeking an extension. Following his announcement, Jay Shah was elected unopposed to the top ICC position.
Earlier, there were speculations about extending Barclay’s term by a week due to uncertainty surrounding the Champions Trophy, but his tenure concluded on schedule.
