Syria’s interim government has declared a three-month suspension of the constitution and parliament following the ousting of President Bashar al-Assad. Spokesperson Ubaida Arnout announced the decision, emphasizing the formation of a judicial and human rights committee to review and amend the existing constitution.
Spokesperson Ubaida Arnout stated, “The priority is to ensure institutional stability and uphold the rule of law during this transitional period.”
In a speech from the state television headquarters, now under the interim administration’s control, Ubaida Arnout pledged accountability for those involved in crimes against the Syrian people. “Justice will be served in accordance with the law,” he affirmed.
Addressing public concerns, Spokesperson Ubaida Arnout confirmed that Syria’s religious and cultural diversity would remain respected. He assured citizens that no significant changes would be imposed on personal freedoms.
