The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has decided to send young batter Saim Ayub to London for immediate medical treatment following his injury during the second Test against South Africa in Cape Town.

In a statement released on Sunday, PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi announced the decision after consultations with medical experts. Saim Ayub sustained the injury while fielding on the first day of the Test match on Friday.

An MRI conducted on Friday afternoon confirmed a fracture in Saim Ayub’s ankle, which has since been immobilized with a medical moon boot.

Chairman Naqvi personally contacted Saim Ayub to inquire about his health and extended his best wishes for a speedy recovery. According to the PCB, leading sports orthopedic specialists in London will assess Saim’s condition.

“Saim Ayub’s appointment with London’s top sports orthopedists has been scheduled. Dr. Mumraiz in Pakistan is managing his case and has already forwarded all medical reports to London,” the statement read.

Chairman Naqvi emphasized Saim Ayub’s importance to the team, calling him a stylish and invaluable player for Pakistan cricket. Arrangements are being made to send him to London on the earliest available flight from Cape Town. Assistant coach Azhar Mahmood will accompany him.

“We are deeply concerned about Saim Ayub’s injury. He will receive the best possible care at one of the world’s leading hospitals. We are hopeful he will fully recover before the Champions Trophy,” Naqvi added.
