Pakistan’s New High Commissioner to Maldives Presents Credentials to President Muizzu
Vice Admiral (R) Faisal Rasul Lodhi, the newly appointed High Commissioner of Pakistan to the Maldives, presented his Letters of Credence to President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu at a formal ceremony held at the President’s Office in Malé on Monday morning.
The event featured a cultural procession with the Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) Drum and Trumpet Band escorting Vice Admiral Lodhi to the office. Following the presentation, the High Commissioner had a courtesy meeting with President Muizzu, accompanied by Zulqurnain Ahmad, Deputy Head of Mission at the Pakistani Embassy. Senior Maldivian officials, including Abdulla Fayaz, Chief of Staff, Mohamed Naseer, Principal Secretary to the President on Foreign Relations, and Fathimath Inaya, Foreign Secretary, were also present.
President Muizzu congratulated Vice Admiral Lodhi on his new role as Pakistan’s High Commissioner and warmly received greetings from the President and Prime Minister of Pakistan. Both leaders highlighted the strong and enduring ties between Pakistan and the Maldives, which are anchored in shared cultural values, religious affinities, and mutual respect.
The discussions centered on further strengthening bilateral relations, particularly in the areas of trade, healthcare, education, climate change, tourism, and defense. Both President Muizzu and Vice Admiral Lodhi reaffirmed their commitment to fostering deeper collaboration and enhancing the overall partnership between the two nations.
