Pakistan and Hong Kong Commit to Strengthening Economic and Diplomatic Relations
Pakistan’s Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue, Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb, and Hong Kong’s Chief Executive, John K C Lee, have pledged to deepen economic and diplomatic ties between the two regions.
During a meeting in Hong Kong on Tuesday, the leaders discussed opportunities for collaboration in finance, technology, trade, tourism, and cultural exchanges. According to a press release issued by Pakistan’s Ministry of Finance, Senator Aurangzeb highlighted the shared values and mutual interests that bind the two regions. He emphasized Pakistan’s commitment to expanding cooperation for mutual growth and prosperity.
The discussions explored avenues to enhance trade relations and attract investment. Senator Aurangzeb underscored Pakistan’s potential as a hub for technological innovation and tourism, inviting Hong Kong to take advantage of these opportunities.
Chief Executive Lee echoed these sentiments, recognizing the mutual benefits of strengthening partnerships. He pointed out that enhanced collaboration could drive economic development, foster innovation, and promote cultural exchange between the two regions.
Pakistan’s Ambassador in Beijing, Khaleel Hashmi, and Consul General in Hong Kong, Riaz Ahmed Shaikh, also attended the meeting, signifying the importance of the dialogue.
The engagement highlights the commitment of both parties to establishing a robust framework for cooperation, aiming to create pathways for sustainable development and shared prosperity.
