Syrian President First Address: “Interim Government Will ensure representation for all sectors of society.

Syria’s newly appointed President, Ahmad Al-Sharaa, delivered his first official address on Thursday, announcing his plan to establish an inclusive interim government that will ensure representation for all sectors of society.

He stated:

“This interim government will establish national institutions, oversee the administration of the country, and conduct impartial elections.”

End of Bashar al-Assad’s Rule & Formation of a New Government

Ahmad Al-Sharaa formally assumed the presidency on January 29, 2025. He took power after toppling Bashar al-Assad’s government on December 8, 2024, while serving as the leader of Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham.
This marked the most significant political shift in Syria’s 13-year-long conflict.

Legislative Reforms, National Dialogue & Constitutional Changes

Ahmad Al-Sharaa outlined key steps in his speech:
✅ The establishment of a provisional legislative body to function until new elections are held.
✅ The official dissolution of the Syrian Parliament as of Wednesday.
✅ Plans to organize a national conference in the coming days to discuss Syria’s political future.
✅ A constitutional declaration to lay the foundation for drafting a new national constitution to ensure a structured and stable governance system.
