Arab Parliament Condemns Israel’s Decision to Revoke 1967 UNRWA Agreement
The Arab Parliament has strongly condemned Israel’s decision to cancel the 1967 agreement with the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), calling it a crime against humanity and a blatant violation of international law.
In a statement, the Arab Parliament warned that obstructing UNRWA’s humanitarian operations in the Gaza Strip, West Bank, and Jerusalem would have grave consequences, depriving millions of Palestinian refugees of essential aid, education, and healthcare.
Unified Arab Response
Arab Parliament Speaker Mohammed Ahmed Al Yamahi welcomed the recent Arab League emergency session, which reaffirmed a unified stance against Israel’s unilateral actions targeting UNRWA. He urged the international community to take a firm stance against the move and ensure continued support for Palestinian refugees.
Call for Global Action
Al Yamahi called on donor countries to sustain funding for UNRWA, emphasizing the need for coordinated efforts to uphold the agency’s mission and protect the rights of Palestinian refugees. He reiterated that UNRWA’s role remains indispensable, particularly amid ongoing humanitarian crises in the occupied territories.
This condemnation adds to growing international concerns over Israel’s policies toward UNRWA, which has been a lifeline for Palestinian refugees since its establishment in 1949.
