Pakistan and Türkiye Discuss Collaboration in IT, 5G, and AI for Digital Transformation
Minister of State for Information Technology and Telecommunication, Shaza Fatima Khawaja, and Türkiye’s Ambassador to Pakistan, Irfan Neziroglu, recently met to explore opportunities for collaboration in the fields of information technology (IT), 5G, and artificial intelligence (AI). The meeting highlighted the shared interest of both nations in accelerating digital transformation and enhancing e-governance systems.
Türkiye’s experience with its advanced e-governance system, which serves 67 million citizens and offers 8,000 digital services, was discussed as a model for Pakistan to emulate. Shaza Fatima emphasized the commitment of the Pakistan Software Export Board (PSEB) to facilitate international IT collaborations, stressing the importance of strengthening partnerships in IT, telecom, and digital businesses between Pakistan and Türkiye.
Both sides agreed to further promote business-to-business (B2B) collaborations between Pakistan’s National IT Board (NITB) and Türkiye’s TurkSat, focusing on smart technologies, 5G, and AI. Shaza Fatima also addressed the need to prioritize digital skills over traditional degrees and highlighted ongoing efforts to develop a skilled workforce in the digital sector.
Additionally, the Digital Nation Pakistan Bill was discussed as a key initiative for transforming Pakistan’s economy through advancements in e-governance, digital services, and data exchange. Both Pakistan and Türkiye reaffirmed their commitment to fostering digital growth, creating new employment opportunities, and enhancing economic stability through technological cooperation.
