Former U.S. President Donald Trump has stated that he would prefer a diplomatic agreement with Iran over military confrontation, emphasizing that a deal could prevent Israel from launching a strike against Tehran.

In an interview with the New York Post, Trump remarked, “I would like a deal done with Iran on non-nuclear. I would prefer that to bombing the hell out of it. They don’t want to die. Nobody wants to die.”

Shift in Approach Towards Iran

Trump’s comments suggest a departure from his previous “maximum pressure” strategy, which focused on crippling sanctions and military deterrence. His emphasis on a non-nuclear deal raises speculation about whether a potential agreement would also address Iran’s ballistic missile program and regional influence.

While declining to elaborate on the specifics of possible negotiations, Trump hinted at his confidence in diplomatic engagement. “In a way, I don’t like telling you what I’m going to tell them. But I hope they decide that they’re not going to do what they’re currently thinking of doing,” he said.

Trump’s assertion that “If we made the deal, Israel wouldn’t bomb them” suggests he views Israeli military action as a genuine risk.
