Majority of Israelis Support Ceasefire Over Renewed Conflict: Poll
A recent survey conducted by Israel’s national broadcaster Kan has revealed that a majority of Israelis prefer to uphold the ceasefire agreement rather than resuming military operations in Gaza.
The poll, which surveyed 600 Israeli citizens, posed the question:
“Should Israel proceed to phase two of the ceasefire deal and end the war, or should it return to fighting without securing the release of all hostages?”
The results indicate that:
- 61% of respondents favored continuing with the ceasefire and negotiations.
- 18% supported an immediate return to military action in Gaza.
- 21% remained uncertain about the best course of action.
The ceasefire, brokered with the mediation of Qatar and Egypt, has facilitated the exchange of captives and prisoners between Israel and Hamas. Another exchange is scheduled for today, ahead of the second phase of negotiations, which are expected to resume next week in Doha.
The poll reflects a shift in public sentiment, with a majority of Israelis seemingly prioritizing diplomatic efforts and hostage recovery over an extended conflict. The findings come at a critical juncture as Israeli leadership weighs its next steps in the ongoing crisis.
