Pakistani PM Shahbaz Sharif to Embark on Two-Day State Visit to Azerbaijan
Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif will undertake a two-day state visit to Azerbaijan from February 24 to 25, at the invitation of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev. This marks his second visit to the country since assuming office in March 2024.
The high-level Pakistani delegation accompanying the Prime Minister will include Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar, along with other key cabinet members. The visit aims to enhance bilateral cooperation in energy, trade, defence, education, and climate action, with several Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) and agreements expected to be signed.
Pakistan and Azerbaijan share strong diplomatic and economic ties, built on mutual trust and cooperation. Azerbaijan is a strategic economic partner for Pakistan, with collaboration in key sectors continuing to grow.
During the visit, PM Shahbaz Sharif will deliver a keynote speech at a Business Forum organized in collaboration with the Export and Investment Promotion Agency of Azerbaijan (AZPROMO), aiming to strengthen economic ties and explore new investment opportunities.
In a significant diplomatic gesture, PM Shahbaz and President Ilham Aliyev will visit Fuzuli, a region in liberated Karabakh, highlighting Pakistan’s support for Azerbaijan’s sovereignty and regional stability.
The visit underscores Pakistan’s commitment to deepening relations with Azerbaijan, fostering greater economic collaboration, and exploring new avenues of strategic partnership for mutual development.
