Saudi Arabia Reports 17% Increase in Umrah Pilgrims Ahead of Hajj 2025
Report by Syed Farzand Ali
Saudi Arabia has recorded a 17% surge in Umrah pilgrims this season compared to the previous year, as the Kingdom continues to enhance its services for religious visitors ahead of Hajj 2025.
According to the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah, the rise in pilgrims reflects improved visa facilitation, expanded accommodations, and seamless transportation services under Saudi Vision 2030.
The ministry has attributed the increase to simplified visa procedures and the extension of the Umrah visa duration to 90 days, allowing pilgrims greater flexibility. The introduction of e-visa services and visa-on-arrival options for eligible nationalities has further eased access for international travelers.
Additionally, Saudi authorities have invested in infrastructure improvements, including expanded airport services, advanced digital platforms for pilgrimage management, and increased capacity in Makkah and Madinah to accommodate the growing number of visitors.
This year’s Umrah statistics highlight a strong rebound in religious tourism, aligning with Saudi Arabia’s broader efforts to diversify its economy and expand its tourism sector.
