Pakistan and Japan Hold Fourth Round of Counter-Terrorism Consultations in Tokyo

 

Pakistan and Japan convened the 4th Round of Counter-Terrorism Consultations in Tokyo on February 26, 2025, reaffirming their commitment to combating terrorism and strengthening bilateral security cooperation.

The Pakistani delegation was led by Additional Secretary (UN), Nabeel Munir, while Ambassador Minami Hiroyuki, Japan’s chief representative for international counter-terrorism cooperation, headed the Japanese side.

Both sides assessed evolving terrorist threats at national and regional levels, emphasizing the need for collaborative efforts to counter terrorism in all its forms. Pakistan highlighted its recent policy measures, including counter-terror financing efforts, dismantling terrorist networks, and enhancing border security.

Discussions also focused on expanding bilateral cooperation, particularly in capacity-building initiatives and leveraging emerging technologies for counter-terrorism efforts.

The consultation reaffirmed Pakistan and Japan’s shared resolve to bolster global and regional security, ensuring continued collaboration in counter-terrorism strategies.
