Report: Israeli Soldiers Allegedly Seized Cash, Gold, and Weapons from Gaza, Lebanon, and Syria
Israeli military forces have allegedly engaged in widespread looting in Gaza, southern Lebanon, and Syria, seizing millions of dollars in cash, gold, and weaponry, according to a leaked report cited by Israeli outlet Ynet.
The report claims that Israeli soldiers took approximately $28 million in cash, gold bars, and family heirlooms from Palestinian homes in Gaza. In one documented case, a specialized Israeli military unit reportedly confiscated around $1 million from the private home of a Hamas brigade commander.
Beyond Gaza, Israeli commandos allegedly conducted covert raids in southern Lebanon, carrying stolen weapons and valuables across the border at night. The looted items are now reportedly stored in secure warehouses and reinforced bunkers throughout Israel.
Weapons and Military Equipment Taken
In addition to valuables, Israeli forces reportedly seized 183,000 pieces of weaponry, including:
- Soviet-era tanks
- French and German rifles
- Sniper weapons
- Drones and anti-aircraft missiles
- Advanced anti-tank weaponry
The allegations surfaced after Palestinian residents returned to their homes in Khan Younis and Gaza City, only to find them ransacked, safes emptied, and personal belongings stolen. Graffiti mocking displaced families was also found in many locations. Similar reports have emerged from Rafah during Israeli military operations.
While much of the looting was allegedly conducted by specialized Israeli army units, individual theft by soldiers was also reportedly rampant. Lt. Col. Sharon Kotler, speaking to Ynet, suggested that seized assets were evaluated for profit rather than simply stored.
According to Israeli military sources, some of the confiscated explosives and weaponry may be repurposed for Israeli military use or transferred to Ukraine amid increasing demand.
The allegations, if confirmed, could further intensify accusations of war crimes and violations of international law in the ongoing conflict.
