Syrian Leadership Urges Alawite Insurgents to Surrender ‘Before It’s Too Late’
The Syrian government has called on Alawite insurgents to lay down their arms and surrender, warning of severe consequences if they continue their rebellion.
In a televised statement on Friday, senior Syrian officials urged insurgents to “reconsider their stance before it’s too late,” emphasizing that military operations against armed groups would intensify if they refused to negotiate.
“The state is ready to welcome those who choose peace and national unity,” a government spokesperson stated, offering amnesty to rebels who surrender voluntarily. However, they warned that security forces would take decisive action against those who continue fighting.
The appeal comes amid escalating clashes in regions with significant Alawite populations, where insurgent factions have been engaged in sporadic battles against government forces. The unrest has raised concerns about further instability in areas that have long been considered strongholds of the ruling elite.
The Syrian leadership has reiterated its stance that armed resistance must end for the sake of national security and long-term stability. Meanwhile, opposition groups claim they are fighting for greater political freedoms and refuse to disarm without guarantees of reform.
