Chinese tech giant Huawei has announced plans to train 300,000 Pakistani youth in Information and Communication Technology (ICT) skills through an online training program.

The decision was reviewed in a high-level meeting chaired by Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif on Sunday. According to a statement from the Prime Minister’s Office, the initiative aims to enhance Pakistan’s IT exports and provide employment opportunities for young professionals.

Huawei’s Commitment to Pakistan’s Digital Transformation

Huawei Technologies representatives reaffirmed their commitment to launching advanced training programs in Pakistan, covering fields such as:
✅ Artificial Intelligence (AI)
✅ Cybersecurity
✅ Cloud Computing
✅ Other Emerging Technologies

The ICT Training Portal, which will facilitate this large-scale training, will be officially inaugurated by Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif.

Speaking at the meeting, Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif emphasized the importance of equipping youth with modern digital skills, stating:

“The government is fully committed to empowering young Pakistanis with cutting-edge skills to drive the country’s digital revolution. Huawei’s ICT training program will boost IT exports and create new employment opportunities.”

Huawei has already trained over 20,000 Pakistani students, focusing on upskilling students, trainers, and ICT professionals. The Master Trainers trained by Huawei will then provide local-level training to further expand the initiative.

Government Directives for Nationwide Implementation

To ensure widespread access, the Prime Minister has directed authorities to:
✅ Accelerate the implementation of ICT training programs.
✅ Expand the initiative to all provinces, including Azad Jammu & Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan.
✅ Maximize outreach of the ICT Training Portal to engage more individuals.

The Huawei-Pakistan collaboration marks a significant step towards digital transformation, positioning Pakistan’s youth at the forefront of the global IT and technology industry.
