Iran Rejects Negotiations on Ending Its Nuclear Program: UN Mission
Iran’s permanent mission to the United Nations has firmly stated that there will be no negotiations to dismantle the country’s peaceful nuclear program. However, discussions can be considered if the objective is to address concerns regarding the potential military use of Iran’s nuclear activities.
According to IRNA, Iran’s state news agency, the Iranian UN mission released a statement on Sunday, emphasizing that “If the purpose of negotiations is to alleviate concerns about the military dimension of Iran’s nuclear program, we are open to discussion. However, if the intention is to terminate our peaceful nuclear activities, such talks will never take place.”
This statement comes after former U.S. President Donald Trump claimed in an interview with Fox Business TV on March 7 that he had sent a letter to Iran’s Supreme Leader, requesting negotiations.
The Iranian mission responded by saying, “What Obama couldn’t achieve, remains impossible now. Iran will never relinquish its nuclear rights.”
