G7 Foreign Ministers Applaud US-Ukraine Talks in Saudi Arabia, Call for Ceasefire
The G7 Foreign Ministers from Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the United Kingdom, and the United States, along with the European Union’s High Representative, have praised the recent US-Ukraine meeting in Saudi Arabia, recognizing it as a crucial step toward resolving the conflict in Ukraine.
Following their gathering in Charlevoix, Quebec, Canada, the ministers acknowledged Ukraine’s commitment to an immediate ceasefire, calling it a necessary move toward a just and lasting peace in accordance with the United Nations Charter. They urged Russia to engage in reciprocal actions by agreeing to a ceasefire under fair conditions.
The G7 leaders also reaffirmed their commitment to facilitating humanitarian aid to Gaza, emphasizing the need for a sustainable ceasefire. They stressed that a political solution for Palestinians is vital for achieving long-term peace and stability in the Middle East.
Expressing concerns over increasing tensions in the West Bank, the ministers called for immediate de-escalation. They also expressed readiness to collaborate with Arab nations on strategies for Gaza’s reconstruction and long-term peace initiatives.
