Iranian Envoy Explores Cultural Collaboration with National Book Foundation
In a bid to enhance cultural and literary cooperation, Dr. Mehdi Taheri, Cultural Attaché at the Embassy of Iran, visited the National Book Foundation (NBF) headquarters on Tuesday.
Welcomed by Dr. Kamran Jahangir, Managing Director of NBF, the Iranian envoy was briefed on the foundation’s role in promoting book culture and its nationwide literary initiatives. Dr. Kamran Jahangir highlighted that NBF operates 21 book outlets across Pakistan, making literature more accessible and fostering reading habits.
A key highlight of the discussion was the proposal to establish an ‘Iran Corner’ at NBF Headquarters, showcasing Iranian literature and cultural heritage. The two sides also explored opportunities for the mutual translation of Persian and Urdu literary works, emphasizing the importance of cultural exchange.
Secretary NBF Murad Ali Mohmand elaborated on the foundation’s diverse publications, including the Book Museum, which preserves literary heritage. Dr. Taheri expressed gratitude for the insightful tour of NBF facilities, including the Indonesian Corner, Bookshop, and Wall of Honour.
Both parties reaffirmed their commitment to collaborating in book publishing, literary translation, and cultural initiatives, strengthening ties between Pakistan and Iran. The visit concluded with mutual appreciation, setting the stage for deeper literary and cultural engagement between the two nations.
