Trump Raised Concerns Russia May Be Stalling on Ukraine Peace Deal
U.S. President Donald Trump has raised concerns that Russia may be delaying efforts to end the war in Ukraine. Speaking in a televised interview, he stated that while Moscow appears interested in a resolution, it could be “dragging its feet” in the negotiations.
His remarks follow a U.S.-brokered agreement aimed at ensuring safe navigation and preventing military actions in the Black Sea. However, Russia has demanded that sanctions on its banks and exports be lifted before fully implementing the deal.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky rejected these conditions, insisting that sanctions must remain in place while Russia still occupies Ukrainian territory. French President Emmanuel Macron also criticized Moscow’s demands, calling them an attempt to rewrite history.
Despite discussions, tensions escalated overnight as Ukraine accused Russia of launching over 100 drone attacks, while Moscow alleged Kyiv targeted its oil infrastructure in response.
Analysts warn that limiting Ukraine’s military operations in the Black Sea could weaken its strategic position, as previous naval strikes have significantly impacted Russia’s forces and supply chains.
With ongoing talks and continued hostilities, concerns remain over whether Moscow is genuinely seeking peace or using negotiations to buy time.
