Hamas Says Ceasefire Talks With Mediators Gaining Momentum

Hamas claims that negotiations with Egyptian and Qatari mediators over a potential ceasefire and hostage release deal are intensifying, despite ongoing Israeli military operations in Gaza.

Bassem Naim, a senior Hamas political official, stated that recent communications have seen significant progress, raising hopes for a breakthrough in the coming days. According to Palestinian sources, talks resumed Thursday evening, focusing on achieving a ceasefire, reopening border crossings, and allowing humanitarian aid into the besieged enclave.

Crucially, the proposal also seeks to restart negotiations on the conflict’s second phase, which Hamas insists must lead to a full withdrawal of Israeli forces and a complete end to the war.

The talks come amid growing international pressure for a resolution, while Israel remains firm on its security objectives, including dismantling Hamas’s military capabilities.
