North Korea’s Kim Jong Un Tests New Sniper Rifle During Special Forces Visit
North Korean leader Kim Jong Un has personally test-fired a newly developed sniper rifle during a visit to the country’s special operations forces, state media reported on Saturday.
The inspection took place at a military training base where Kim observed live-fire exercises, including sniper and automatic rifle drills. According to the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA), the advanced sniper rifle is set to be deployed across elite military units.
He emphasized that such preparedness is essential for ensuring “victory on the battlefield” and praised the soldiers for their dedication.
Images released by state media showed Kim aiming through the scope of the new rifle, interacting with camouflaged troops, and pointing to a bullseye target.
The visit comes amid heightened regional tensions and follows South Korea’s recent political developments, including the impeachment of President Yoon Suk Yeol. Analysts believe the change in leadership could influence future inter-Korean relations.
Meanwhile, international attention has also turned toward comments made by former U.S. President Donald Trump, who reportedly stated he is still in contact with Kim and may re-engage diplomatically in the near future.
North Korea continues to prioritize military modernization, with a particular focus on enhancing the capabilities of its special forces. The latest move signals Pyongyang’s intent to maintain a strong defense posture amid evolving geopolitical dynamics.
