Hamas Launches Major Rocket Attack on Southern Israel, many Injured and property damage

Hamas fired at least 10 rockets from the Gaza Strip into southern Israel on Monday, marking the most substantial attack in several months. The assault resulted in many injury and property damage, Israeli defense officials confirmed.

According to the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), several rockets were intercepted by the Iron Dome missile defense system. However, a few landed near the city of Sderot, causing damage to infrastructure and many civilian injuring , who was promptly hospitalized with shrapnel wounds. Nearby structures also sustained limited damage due to falling debris.

This latest rocket barrage is the most intense since early 2024 and comes amid growing unrest in the region. In retaliation, the IDF launched targeted airstrikes on Hamas positions in northern Gaza. The strikes reportedly hit underground weapons production sites and other military assets used by the group.

In response to the assault, Israeli authorities placed southern communities under high alert. Schools in the impacted areas have been closed temporarily as a safety measure.
