Ambassador Faisal Niaz Tirmizi Highlights Pakistan’s Economic Development and Strong Ties with UAE
At a special reception to celebrate Pakistan’s National Day in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Ambassador Faisal Niaz Tirmizi detailed Pakistan’s current efforts to accelerate its economic growth while achieving its Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The event was a significant occasion, bringing together high-level officials from the UAE government, diplomatic circles, and the Pakistani community.
Economic Agenda for Sustainable Growth
During his address, Ambassador Tirmizi emphasized the Government of Pakistan’s commitment to promoting economic development through progressive reforms. Reflecting on Pakistan’s history, the Ambassador mentioned how the country had faced significant challenges and worked diligently to build a stable, thriving state. Today, he underscored, Pakistan is moving toward tangible economic growth with a focus on inclusive development.
He elaborated on key areas that hold great potential for growth, including:
- Youth empowerment, recognizing Pakistan’s young population as a driving force for economic progress.
- Women’s active participation in the labor market, which is expanding significantly and creating new opportunities.
- The untapped potential of Pakistan’s agriculture, IT, and tourism sectors, which are pivotal for the nation’s long-term development.
UAE-Pakistan Relations: A Shared Vision for Growth
The reception also saw the participation of Sheikh Nahayan bin Mabarak Al Nahyan, the UAE Minister of Tolerance and Coexistence, as the chief guest, along with Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Ahmed bin Ali Al Sayegh. Their presence highlighted the ongoing strong bilateral ties between Pakistan and the UAE.
Ambassador Tirmizi praised the UAE’s tremendous economic achievements, attributing much of the country’s success to the visionary leadership of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, which continues to guide the UAE under the leadership of President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. He reaffirmed that the partnership between the two countries is continuously evolving, driven by mutual respect, shared values, and collaborative efforts.
Cultural Celebrations and Honors
As part of the celebrations, a special event took place where Pakistani artists performed both Pakistan’s and UAE’s national anthems on traditional instruments. The evening also included the launch of a book titled “Sheikh Zayed Maimaar-e-Watan,” which celebrates the life and contributions of the late founder of the UAE. The book, written by Khan Zaman Suroor, honors Sheikh Zayed’s legacy and vision for the UAE.
Additionally, Adnan Niaz, a prominent Pakistani entrepreneur, was awarded the Sitara-i-Imtiaz, one of Pakistan’s highest civilian honors, for his remarkable contributions to business and social welfare.
Commitment to Global Peace
Ambassador Tirmizi also reiterated Pakistan’s unwavering commitment to supporting global peace efforts. He stressed the need for a peaceful resolution to the Palestinian issue and the Jammu and Kashmir conflict, emphasizing that Pakistan remains steadfast in its support for these causes in line with UN Security Council resolutions.
