PM Shahbaz Reaffirms Support for Palestinians, Vows Energy Sector Reforms in Meeting with JI Delegation
Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif has reiterated Pakistan’s unwavering support for the Palestinian people and pledged to continue pursuing structural reforms in the country’s energy sector. His remarks came during a high-level meeting with a delegation from Jamaat-e-Islami (JI), led by party chief Hafiz Naeem ur Rehman, at the Prime Minister’s Office on Wednesday.
During the meeting, both sides strongly condemned Israel’s ongoing military aggression in Gaza, expressing deep concern over the loss of innocent civilian lives and the international community’s muted response.
“Pakistan’s stance is unambiguous — we stand firmly with our oppressed Palestinian brothers and sisters,” the Prime Minister stated. “We will continue to raise our voice at every global platform against the brutal atrocities committed by Israel.”
Hafiz Naeem ur Rehman expressed appreciation for the recent reduction in electricity prices and acknowledged the government’s efforts to address rising utility costs. In response, Prime Minister Shahbaz emphasized his administration’s focus on comprehensive energy sector reforms aimed at long-term sustainability.
“Our team is working around the clock to devise lasting solutions to Pakistan’s energy challenges,” he said. “All future reforms will prioritize the needs of the average citizen. Despite economic hurdles, delivering public relief remains our foremost objective.”
He further asserted that the government’s development journey is on track and will continue with determination and resilience.
“The path to Pakistan’s progress will persist — InshaAllah,” the Prime Minister affirmed.
The meeting was also attended by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Federal Information Minister Attaullah Tarar, and senior JI leaders Liaqat Baloch and Asif Luqman Qazi.
