Federal Education Minister and Turkish Ambassador Visit RWU’s Advanced Zoology Lab Supported by TIKA
Minister of State for Federal Education & Professional Training, Ms. Wajiha Qamar, and the Ambassador of the Republic of Türkiye to Pakistan, H.E. Dr. Irfan Naziroğlu, visited Rawalpindi Women University (RWU) to inaugurate its newly developed state-of-the-art Zoology Laboratory, established with the support of the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA).
The distinguished guests were received by Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Anila Kamal, who shared insights into the university’s strategic vision and the vital role of the new facility in strengthening scientific research and higher education.
Speaking during the visit, Ms. Wajiha Qamar praised the initiative, noting, “This cutting-edge lab is a milestone for life sciences education in Pakistan and will significantly boost both teaching and research capacity at RWU.” She also underscored the importance of international partnerships in elevating the standards of Pakistan’s academic institutions.
Ambassador Dr. Irfan Naziroğlu highlighted the longstanding and robust friendship between Türkiye and Pakistan, and commended the growing academic ties between the two nations. “TIKA is a leading development agency from Türkiye, and we are proud to have completed more than 700 impactful projects in Pakistan over the past 15 years,” he said. He further encouraged Pakistani students to explore postgraduate programs in Türkiye, noting that a Turkish higher education delegation is currently in Pakistan to enhance institutional linkages.
Prof. Dr. Anila Kamal expressed gratitude to TIKA for its generous contribution, stating, “This lab positions RWU at the forefront of scientific research in zoology. It is a testament to the power of academic collaboration between our countries.”
Ms. Saliha Tuna, Head of TIKA Pakistan, also addressed the attendees and reaffirmed TIKA’s dedication to advancing educational development across Pakistan.
Students from the Department of Zoology shared their experiences working in the modern facility and extended their appreciation to the Turkish government. The laboratory is the first of its kind in Pakistan, fully equipped and exclusively focused on Zoological Histology, setting a new benchmark for biological research infrastructure in the country.
