Netanyahu Reviews Hostage Talks as Hamas Rejects Israeli Disarmament Condition

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu held a high-level meeting on Wednesday to evaluate progress in ongoing hostage negotiations with Hamas. The development follows the delivery of a revised Israeli proposal, which Hamas confirmed it has received and is reviewing.

Despite ongoing diplomatic efforts, Hamas has rejected one of Israel’s key demands — the disarmament of its military wing. The group stated it will not agree to surrender weapons as part of any ceasefire or hostage release deal.

Talks are being mediated by Qatar, Egypt, and the United States, with a focus on securing a multi-phase agreement that includes a temporary ceasefire, the release of hostages, and expanded humanitarian aid for Gaza.

Israeli officials maintain that any agreement must include long-term security guarantees. Meanwhile, Hamas insists on the complete withdrawal of Israeli forces and unrestricted aid access as preconditions for a broader deal.

The Israeli War Cabinet remains in session, weighing its next steps amid growing international pressure to reach a resolution.
