China Denies Supplying Weapons to Russia, Dismisses Zelenskyy’s Accusations as Baseless
Report By Safarti Tarjuman International Desk
China has categorically rejected claims by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy that it has been supplying military equipment to Russia amid the ongoing conflict in Ukraine.
At a press briefing on Friday, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian described the allegations as “unfounded and irresponsible,” reiterating that Beijing maintains a neutral stance and continues to advocate for a peaceful resolution.
Zelenskyy had alleged that China was supplying gunpowder, artillery components, and was directly involved in weapons production within Russian territory. He also announced that Ukraine would soon release supporting evidence.
In response, Lin stated Our commitment is to facilitating dialogue, promoting peace, and supporting diplomatic solutions.”
Meanwhile, Ukraine imposed sanctions on three Chinese companies, blocking them from conducting business in Ukraine and freezing their assets. While specific reasons for the sanctions were not disclosed, they follow rising concerns over China’s alleged involvement.
Tensions further escalated after reports emerged of two Chinese nationals captured in Ukraine allegedly fighting for Russian forces. Zelenskyy claimed that over 150 Chinese citizens were linked to the Russian military, suggesting a coordinated recruitment effort from within China.
Beijing has firmly denied these accusations, stating that any such individuals may have acted independently and that the government consistently advises Chinese nationals to avoid all conflict zones.
China maintains that it is neither a cause of the Ukraine crisis nor a participant. While it shares strategic ties with Russia, it insists those relations do not extend to supporting military aggression.
