Türkiye and Pakistan Strengthen Parliamentary Ties in Support of Global Solidarity

Türkiye and Pakistan have reaffirmed their mutual commitment to strengthening parliamentary cooperation during a high-level meeting between their legislative leaders. Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye, Numan Kurtulmuş, and Speaker of Pakistan’s National Assembly, Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, met on the sidelines of the Parliamentary Conference for Solidarity with Palestine, held in Islamabad.

The two dignitaries discussed advancing inter-parliamentary collaboration, enhancing legislative diplomacy, and jointly addressing shared regional and international challenges.

Emphasis on Lasting Friendship and Strategic Partnership

Recognizing their nations’ deep-rooted historical, cultural, and religious bonds, both sides expressed their intent to elevate bilateral relations through sustained parliamentary engagement. The meeting underscored the importance of regular dialogue between lawmakers and emphasized the role of legislative institutions in promoting global peace and cooperation.

Speaker Kurtulmuş lauded Pakistan’s continuous advocacy for justice and support for oppressed communities, particularly the Palestinian people. He reiterated Türkiye’s solidarity with Pakistan and praised the country’s role in international forums.

Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, in return, highlighted Pakistan’s appreciation for Türkiye’s principled stance on key global issues and expressed hope for broader cooperation in areas such as economic development, education, and humanitarian efforts.

United Support for Palestine

Both leaders strongly condemned the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Gaza and reaffirmed their collective support for the Palestinian people. They stressed the urgent need for an international response to stop human rights violations and ensure accountability.

Speaker Sadiq emphasized that the plight of the Palestinians should be a shared global concern and praised Türkiye’s active diplomatic efforts to highlight the crisis at global platforms.

Looking Ahead: A Path for Legislative Collaboration

At the conclusion of the meeting, both speakers agreed to enhance parliamentary exchanges, establish joint working groups, and promote coordinated efforts in international assemblies. Their dialogue marked a step forward in using parliamentary diplomacy as a force for peace, justice, and mutual development.
