Pakistan Briefs Foreign Diplomats on Pahalgam Attack and Regional Security Concerns
Pakistan’s Foreign Secretary Amna Baloch held a high-level briefing on Wednesday for Heads of Mission and senior diplomats stationed in Islamabad, addressing the regional implications of the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam, located in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).
During the session, the Foreign Secretary provided an overview of the National Security Committee’s recent discussions, highlighting Pakistan’s assessment of the situation and its commitment to regional peace and security.
“Such propaganda only serves to undermine peace efforts and diverts attention from the root causes of conflict in the region,” said Baloch. She stressed that Pakistan has a clear, principled policy of rejecting terrorism in all its forms and reaffirmed that no justification exists for linking acts of violence to Pakistan without credible evidence.
The Foreign Secretary also warned against any escalation tactics by India and reiterated Pakistan’s firm resolve to safeguard its sovereignty. She emphasized the importance of avoiding confrontation and instead encouraged the international community to focus on constructive dialogue and peaceful resolution of disputes in South Asia.
Diplomats were also updated on Pakistan’s proactive outreach to international forums and its ongoing efforts to counter misinformation while advocating for the rights of the people of Jammu and Kashmir under international law.
The briefing concluded with Pakistan calling upon its partners and the global community to remain vigilant against disinformation, support efforts for regional stability, and stand in solidarity with principles of justice and self-determination.
