Bangladesh’s 54th Independence Day Celebrated in Islamabad
The High Commission of Bangladesh in Islamabad held a grand reception to mark the 54th Independence and National Day of Bangladesh, drawing a distinguished gathering of diplomats, government officials, and members of both the Bangladeshi and Pakistani communities.
Dignitaries Join to Celebrate National Milestone
The reception, organized with cultural grace and diplomatic warmth, was attended by Pakistan’s Federal Minister for Defense, Khawaja Mohammad Asif, who served as the chief guest. He extended heartfelt congratulations to the people and government of Bangladesh and praised the country’s impressive progress in social and economic development.
Minister Asif noted the recent visit of Pakistan’s Secretary of Foreign Affairs to Dhaka, calling it a constructive move toward mutual trust. He emphasized the importance of fostering stronger bilateral ties, particularly in areas such as trade, culture, and defense cooperation.
Tributes and Commitments by Bangladesh High Commissioner
In his address, Bangladesh High Commissioner Md. Iqbal Hossain Khan stressed Bangladesh’s commitment to regional peace and cooperation, underscoring the country’s intent to strengthen relations with Pakistan and other South Asian nations.
He and his wife, Nahid Raushan, along with the High Commission team, warmly welcomed all guests, reinforcing the spirit of friendship and shared heritage.

The event began with the playing of the national anthems of both Bangladesh and Pakistan, followed by a ceremonial cake-cutting ceremony featuring the flags of both nations.
