Pakistan and the Czech Republic have forged strong ties in energy and mining development.

 

In a significant step towards strengthening bilateral relations, Pakistan and the Czech Republic have agreed to further deepen their cooperation in the areas of energy innovation and mineral development.

The announcement came after a key meeting between Pakistan’s Federal Minister for Petroleum Ali Pervaiz Malik and David Müller, Director General of the Czech Ministry of Industry and Trade. The two officials discussed opportunities to enhance cooperation in key areas for the economic development of the two countries.

Key Areas of Cooperation

The two countries outlined several key areas for future cooperation, including:
– Oil and Gas Exploration Opportunities,
– Clean Coal Technology Development,
– Development of Carbon Capture Solutions,
– Coal Gasification Process, and
– Expansion of the Mining Sector.

Minister Malik stressed Pakistan’s commitment to reduce energy costs and shift towards more sustainable energy solutions with the help of Czech technical expertise. He stressed that indigenous coal resources will play a central role in the country’s energy future.

“We are focused on reducing energy costs by utilizing our abundant indigenous coal, which will help ensure long-term energy security,” Malik said.

He also encouraged Czech companies to explore investment opportunities in Pakistan’s energy sector, noting that onshore and offshore bidding rounds for oil and gas exploration are underway.

Czech Republic’s strategic interest in the mineral sector

David Müller expressed great enthusiasm about the prospects for cooperation between the two countries. He highlighted the Czech Republic’s readiness to share its advanced technology and explore investment opportunities in Pakistan’s mining and energy industries.

> “Pakistan offers immense opportunities for Czech companies, especially in clean energy and mineral development. Our aim is to establish a long-lasting partnership for mutual benefit,” commented Müller.

He also confirmed that investment opportunities in Pakistan’s mineral sector will soon be shared with Czech businesses. Furthermore, an agreement is being established between the Geological Survey of Pakistan and the Geological Survey of the Czech Republic to promote joint research and technical cooperation.

Participation of high-level delegation

The meeting was attended by several high-level officials including:
– Ladislav Steinhübel, Ambassador of the Czech Republic to Pakistan,
– Deputy Head of Mission, Czech Embassy,
– Pakistan Mineral Development Corporation (PMDC) – Shamsuddin Sheikh, Chairman,
– Asad Ahmed, Managing Director, PMDC,
– Shehbaz Tahir, Joint Secretary, Petroleum Division, and other officials.

Strengthening ties with Europe

This collaboration marks another important step in Pakistan’s broader efforts to enhance ties with European countries, focusing on areas such as technology transfer, sustainable development and increased investment.
