UK, US Forces Launch Joint Airstrike on Houthi Targets in Yemen
Report By Safarti Tarjuman International Desk
British and American forces carried out a joint airstrike targeting Houthi positions in Yemen, the UK Ministry of Defence confirmed early Wednesday morning.
The precision strike took place during nighttime hours to minimize the risk of civilian casualties, according to an official statement. British aircraft involved in the mission returned safely, the ministry added.
“This operation was conducted to protect freedom of navigation in the Red Sea and deter hostile threats from the Houthi militia,” the statement noted, without disclosing the exact location of the strike or the nature of the targets hit.
The joint action reflects ongoing Western efforts to counter Houthi aggression in the region, particularly following multiple drone and missile attacks launched by the Iran-aligned group in recent months. Both Washington and London have reiterated their commitment to securing vital international shipping routes and preventing further escalation in the region.
No immediate details were provided regarding potential damage or casualties on the ground. However, intelligence sources suggest the targeted location was believed to be a weapons depot or launch site used by Houthi forces.
This strike marks the latest in a series of coordinated military responses aimed at disrupting Houthi operations, which have increasingly threatened commercial maritime traffic in the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden.
Authorities from both nations emphasized that while the use of force remains a last resort, the safety of international vessels and regional allies will continue to be safeguarded through all necessary measures.
