Saudi Arabia has voiced deep concern over the recent escalation of hostilities between India and Pakistan, urging both South Asian nations to exercise restraint and pursue diplomatic solutions to avoid further instability in the region.

In an official statement released by the Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Kingdom expressed alarm over the continued exchange of fire in disputed border areas, particularly in light of the recent militant attack on tourists in Pahalgam, located in Indian-administered Kashmir.

“The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia calls on the governments of India and Pakistan to de-escalate the situation and prioritize diplomatic engagement,” the statement said.

The Kingdom emphasized the importance of adhering to the principles of good neighborliness, peaceful coexistence, and mutual respect. Saudi Arabia also stressed the need to promote regional peace and stability in the broader interest of both nations and their populations.

The latest cross-border tensions have raised fears of renewed conflict between the nuclear-armed neighbors, who have a long history of territorial disputes over Kashmir. The April 23 incident in Pahalgam, where several tourists were attacked, has further intensified security concerns.

Saudi Arabia, which maintains strong bilateral relations with both India and Pakistan, has frequently positioned itself as a neutral mediator in South Asian affairs. The Kingdom reiterated its willingness to support peace efforts aimed at reducing friction and enhancing dialogue.
