Pakistan Moves to Brief UN Security Council on Escalating Regional Tensions

Pakistan has decided to formally brief the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) on growing regional instability due to what it describes as India’s aggressive behavior and provocative actions.

The directive came from Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Muhammad Ishaq Dar, who instructed Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the UN to urgently pursue the matter. The move aims to highlight recent developments that threaten peace and security in South Asia.

According to a statement issued by the Foreign Office spokesperson, Pakistan will:

  • Expose India’s inflammatory rhetoric and provocative military posture
  • Highlight New Delhi’s attempt to suspend the Indus Waters Treaty, a critical international agreement
  • Warn of serious implications for regional and global peace

A Strategic Diplomatic Step

This initiative is part of Islamabad’s broader diplomatic outreach to counter India’s narrative and to prevent the erosion of regional security frameworks. Pakistan emphasized that any threat to the Indus Waters Treaty not only violates international law but also escalates an already volatile environment.

The Foreign Office also stressed that Pakistan remains committed to peace and regional cooperation but cannot overlook persistent provocations from its eastern neighbor.
