Israel’s security cabinet has approved a high-level strategic plan aimed at capturing the entire Gaza Strip, signaling a potential escalation in the ongoing conflict with Hamas.

The decision follows a series of intensive military briefings and closed-door consultations among top Israeli leadership. Under the approved blueprint, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) are authorized to proceed with a comprehensive military campaign to dismantle all Hamas infrastructure and establish full operational control over Gaza.

Senior defense officials described the plan as the most extensive Gaza campaign in Israel’s history, with multi-phase operations designed to neutralize remaining militant strongholds, secure key urban zones, and eliminate long-range missile capabilities.

While no formal timeline has been announced, military analysts expect the operation to intensify after U.S. President Donald Trump’s upcoming visit to the region, to avoid interfering with diplomatic engagements.

The cabinet’s approval includes contingencies for post-conflict governance, humanitarian management, and regional coordination with international stakeholders. Israeli leaders insist the move is necessary to ensure long-term national security following years of persistent rocket attacks and cross-border threats.

Minister of National Security Itamar Ben Gvir strongly supported the decision, calling it a “historic opportunity to eliminate terrorism at its source.” Some moderate voices in the cabinet expressed concern over the scale of the mission, warning of potential international backlash and humanitarian risks.

The IDF remains on high alert, and troop deployments near Gaza have reportedly increased in recent days. Civil defense authorities have issued preparedness guidelines to Israeli communities near the border, anticipating heightened hostilities in the days ahead.
