India Confirms 5PM Ceasefire with Pakistan Following Direct Military Contact

India has formally confirmed the enforcement of a complete ceasefire with Pakistan, taking effect from 5:00 PM Indian Standard Time today.

Indian Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri, in a brief press statement, revealed that Pakistan’s Director General of Military Operations (DGMO) reached out to his Indian counterpart at 3:35 PM IST. During the conversation, both sides agreed to a comprehensive halt to all military operations — on land, in the air, and at sea.

This high-level military engagement marks a significant breakthrough in efforts to de-escalate recent hostilities between the two nuclear-armed neighbors.

The ceasefire understanding follows sustained diplomatic efforts, including mediation by international stakeholders, and comes amid global calls for restraint and dialogue.

Both nations are expected to maintain direct military communication to monitor the truce and prevent further escalation. Future talks to stabilize the situation are anticipated.
