Pakistan Observes Youm-e-Tashakur to Celebrate Victory in Marka-e-Haq and Salute Armed Forces

 

The nation is observing Youm-e-Tashakur (Day of Thanksgiving) with patriotic fervour to mark the historic success in Operation Marka-e-Haq. Across the country, citizens are paying glowing tribute to the Pakistan Armed Forces and honouring the sacrifices of martyrs and civilians alike.

The day began with special prayers and Quran recitations in mosques nationwide. A 31-gun salute was presented in Islamabad, while 21-gun salutes echoed in provincial capitals to symbolize national gratitude.

Military personnel shouted “Allahu Akbar” as they prayed for the country’s peace and security. Ceremonies honoring the martyrs and military heroes are taking place throughout the day.

Prime Minister Leads National Ceremony

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif hoisted the national flag at the Prime Minister House in Islamabad and expressed heartfelt appreciation for the armed forces. He emphasized that Pakistan, while a peace-loving nation, reserves the right to respond with full force against any form of aggression.

He referred to India’s cross-border provocation during the night of May 6–7, which resulted in civilian casualties. The prime minister lauded the military’s prompt and professional response that secured the nation’s defense and pride.

“This day reflects not only our military strength but also the unity and resolve of our people. We thank Almighty Allah for this decisive victory,” said Prime Minister Sharif.

Tributes at National Monuments

In Karachi, a solemn ceremony was held at the mausoleum of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah. Corps Commander Karachi, Lieutenant General Owais Dastgir, laid a floral wreath and offered prayers. In Lahore, Governor Punjab Sardar Salim Haider paid respects at the mausoleum of Allama Iqbal, where religious leaders led special prayers.

Chief Minister Sindh Syed Murad Ali Shah hoisted the national flag at the Sindh Secretariat, praising the armed forces for their heroic defense against Indian aggression. In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Governor Faisal Karim Kundi presided over the flag-hoisting ceremony at Governor House Peshawar, highlighting that the enemy misjudged Pakistan’s resolve.

Ceremonies at Martyrs’ Memorials

Special events were organized at the memorials of national heroes including:

  • Captain Muhammad Sarwar Shaheed in Gujar Khan
  • Major Shabbir Sharif Shaheed
  • Major Muhammad Akram Shaheed in Jhelum
  • Captain Karnal Sher Khan Shaheed in Swabi

Soldiers presented salutes and laid floral wreaths to honour their unmatched sacrifices for the nation.

Youth and Public Join Celebrations

In Azad Jammu and Kashmir, schools and colleges held special assemblies. Students recited national songs and poems while chanting slogans like “Pakistan Zindabad” and “We Stand with Our Army.” Teachers praised the armed forces’ victory and sacrifices through literary presentations.

Central Event at Pakistan Monument

The main ceremony is being held at the Pakistan Monument in Islamabad. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is the chief guest, accompanied by Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee and Chiefs of the Armed Forces.
