Ambassador Tirmizi Showcases Pakistan’s Strategic Trade and Logistics Role at Global Conference in Dubai
Pakistan’s Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates, Faisal Niaz Tirmizi, emphasized the country’s growing significance as a regional trade and logistics hub during his keynote address at the 12th Global Logistics Alliance (GLA) Global Conference in Dubai, held from May 15 to 18.
Speaking at the international gathering, Ambassador Tirmizi highlighted Pakistan’s strategic location at the crossroads of South Asia, Central Asia, and the Middle East. He noted that this unique positioning offers vast potential for Pakistan to become a major corridor for regional connectivity and economic cooperation.
He pointed to the strong and historic economic and diplomatic ties between Pakistan and the UAE, lauding major UAE-based companies like DP World and AD Ports for their continued investments in Pakistan’s freight and port infrastructure.
The ambassador also acknowledged Dubai’s critical role in global logistics, citing Jebel Ali Port and Dubai International Airport as vital hubs for international trade and connectivity.
The conference featured prominent regional and international speakers, including Engineer Sheikh Salem bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Chairman of the Department of Civil Aviation Ras Al Khaimah, and Juma Al Kait, Chief Trade Negotiator and Assistant Undersecretary at the UAE Ministry of Economy.
In her opening remarks, GLA President Grace Sun welcomed participants from across the globe and emphasized the importance of fostering international partnerships in the logistics sector. She called for innovative approaches to enhance global supply chain efficiency and integration.
During a meeting on the sidelines, Ambassador Tirmizi and Grace Sun discussed the potential for hosting a regional GLA networking event in Pakistan. The proposed initiative would focus on expanding logistics collaboration among stakeholders in South and Central Asia.
Ambassador Tirmizi reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to building smart, resilient, and sustainable logistics infrastructure. He stressed the strategic importance of ongoing initiatives like the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), which is enhancing regional connectivity and driving economic transformation.
He also visited the exhibition stall of Logistics Mode Pvt Ltd, where he met with Suleman Jazib, Head of Branch. The ambassador commended the company’s contributions to providing world-class logistics solutions and encouraged greater involvement of Pakistani firms in global logistics and trade networks.
