Sikh Organization Files ICC Complaint Over Indian Drone Attack Attempt on Nankana Sahib
Report by Safarti Tarjuman International Desk
The international Sikh organization MAAR has filed an official complaint with the International Criminal Court (ICC) in The Hague against India, demanding a thorough investigation into an attempted drone strike on the sacred Sikh site of Nankana Sahib.
In its complaint, MAAR stated that India’s targeting of Nankana Sahib constitutes a serious violation of international humanitarian laws. The organization highlighted that during the night of April 7 and 8, Indian forces attempted a drone attack on the revered site. The attempt was thwarted by swift action from Pakistan’s armed forces. MAAR emphasized that the attack represented a direct assault on the religious freedom of the global Sikh community.
The organization reminded the international community that this is not the first such incident. In 1971, India allegedly bombed the Kartarpur Sahib complex, an event deeply etched into the collective memory of the Sikh nation.
The complaint underlined that places of worship are protected under international humanitarian laws and must be safeguarded during political or military tensions. MAAR has called on the ICC to investigate the attempted drone strike and take legal action against those responsible.
