Trump Gets Tariff Delay as Elon Musk Wraps Up White House Role
Report by Safarti Tarjuman International Desk
President Donald Trump has obtained a court-ordered stay on a previous ruling that declared his international tariff strategy unlawful. The stay, issued by a U.S. appeals court, temporarily blocks a decision from the U.S. Court of International Trade, which found the tariffs violated the International Emergency Economic Powers Act. The Trump administration has indicated plans to challenge the ruling before the Supreme Court.
At the same time, Elon Musk completed his role as a special advisor to the federal government. Appointed in January to head the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), Musk served for 130 days, during which he reportedly helped the administration save an estimated $175 billion by streamlining bureaucratic operations and implementing technology-based reforms.
To mark the occasion, President Trump held a joint press conference in the Oval Office alongside Musk. “It’s his final day officially, but Elon will always be part of our team. He’s done an incredible job,” Trump said, suggesting Musk may continue to offer informal guidance.
Musk has also expressed concern over Trump’s latest economic package known as the “One Big Beautiful Bill,” warning it could drive up the national deficit despite recent savings achieved by the DOGE initiative.
